it's been a while: let's catch you up to speed!

i know i've been horrible about updating this blog. sorry. honestly, part of the reason is i've been so busy, and part of it is my ibook might be saying goodbye. it takes an eternity for a photo to load, much less clip together a quick video; then this morning, it crashed, and macs don't crash.. so.. we'll see. since it sorta died, you don't get any pictures until i get home. sorry.

this past week.5, in roughly chronological order:

- watched marley and me... it was good
- got up from tv, opened blinds, ominous clouds
- turned on channel 4, tornado bearing clouds closing in on my exact location
- evacuate my top level apartment and head down to lower level coworker apartment
- watch news, hear hail, rain blowing sideways
- storm passes through with 80mph winds and over 1,200 recorded cloud-to-ground lightning strikes in 5 minutes
- no tornado, but concentrated winds and/or microburst tear roof off nearby apt.
- glad it wasn't my roof
- sleep
- wake up to severe thunderstorms
- drive to work in torrential downpours that were really best described as sporadically flowing faucets
- rains straight for 6 hours
- police reported over 50 water rescues from vehicles due to flash flooding
- got sweet pics of lake overtaking northwest highway
- my car smelled like electricity when all was said in done from all the puddles and standing water i drove through
- worked, slept, worked, slept, had good hamburger at jake's, slept, worked, etc...
- got a pontiac g6 to replace the malibu once i finally got around to going back to the airport enterprise
- multitasked and waited to return at the airport until kristen came into town last friday night
- picked up kristen, and there was much rejoicing
- drove her to denton where she was staying, went to whataburger, visited the folks she used to stay with when interning out here
- went home, woke up, worked, met kristen at the galleria mall where we hung out with some of her friends and it was high school all over again (though that's not really what high school looked like to me, it just seemed like the appropriate thing to say)
- went to jamba juice for the first time, which was conveniently located in the part of the mall where the sun fires through the skylight windows like napalm on a straw village
- had a great dinner at this place that serves vanilla bean ice cream atop a half baked chocolate chip cookie for desert and where the waitresses suggest that their food is not worth taking home (inside joke filler inner: i asked for a to go box and it was a small portion so i asked for a small box. she said they didn't have any so i made a comment like, oh, well maybe it's not worth taking home and then she was like, yeah, it's not, but not in the way that sounded like she agreed the portion was too small to bother, but more like in the way where she thought that the food wasn't worth the hassle)
- went swimming in the pool here at the apartment, slept, woke up
- met kristen for church at Denton Bible Church (where she used to go when she lived here)
- message was tiiight
- had to go to work, but was able to meet up with kristen afterwards for a bit
- went out to dinner at the blue mesa with k and some of my coworkers, including bff and mbc drumming legend greg lopez. it was delicious
- went to bed, woke up, went to work, picked up kristen and sadly took her to her terminal, but not after delicious food consumed at chick-fil-a
- parted ways with the girl
- exchanged cliched, but very meaningful to us text messages about how it had only been a few minutes but we already missed each other so much
- went out to a new place called the flying saucer that night and tried a new beer
- worked, slept, worked, slept, worked (as you can see the days aren't nearly as meaningful without mexican food, tornadoes, or kristen (in no particular order))
- went back to the flying saucer and tried a different beer (fat tire... only found out west!)
- saw the hangover last night and despite a couple choice parts, it as actually really funny
- slept and baaaaaaaam. sigh. here we are

this isn't to say that a bunch of other stuff didn't happen; but because my original post that was more informative and written in traditional paragraph format got erased when my ibook ended its life, i got lazy and didn't want to rewrite the whole thing, nor could i have done it even if i had wanted to. so, until next time!
