Most of you already know about the Holiday Hipsters, but for those who don't, me and a few friends started up this project a couple years ago when I had a spooky sounding guitar riff that I wanted to turn into the "first" ever Halloween song. Matt Walkley had recently moved to the area, and when I heard his uncanny ability to replicate the sound of those freaky little vibrating which dolls, I was intrigued and obliged to befriend him. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just listen to the background of the chorus on the Halloween song on our Myspace page and you will get it. Matt is actually making that sound.
Ben Powell was chillin with us when we began the brainstorming process. I can't remember if Burgos was with us right when we came up with the idea, or met up with us when we got to Ben's house, but it was obvious to us, just based on who Burgos is, that he needed to be a part of this. So we left our friend Shannon's house at like 5pm and went straight back to the studio at Ben's house and wrote and recorded the entire First Halloween Song in 6 hours. When it came time to decide on a name, Burgos just said... "How bout Holiday Hipsters?" And the rest is history.
Now, we've just released our 5th song. In a couple months our songs will be available on iTunes. But, for now, check out the music video for our brand new song, Cupid's Lament, along with some of the promo videos Burgos and I made. Don't forget to become our fan on Facebook!
