Follow Up to Election Thoughts

(written in response to posted comments about this blog on facebook)

Thanks to all who have responded. I respect everyone's opinion. And though I don't feel the need to change my opinion, I will consent, if I didn't imply it overtly enough in my concern for the bashing and propaganda firing from both sides, that there definitely were people voting for McCain that were victims of the bandwagon effect... no doubt.

I apologize to those who may have expected some typical Martinisms with perhaps a humorous slant wrapping it up all nicely in the end. But that's just not the way this one was written. Maybe one will come along sometime in the future =)

I really appreciate the time people have taken to respond though. It feels good knowing there are so many of us that do care about this. I hope that the future president Obama will be touched equally by those on both sides of the fence this term and rule accordingly. I don't think Bush did a good job of that.

Though we live under God's rule, we, the people, are still responsible for the leaders we elect. We, the people, are ultimately responsible to fight for change. Just because I, along with many others, believe that God is in control, doesn't mean that He is necessarily going to change policy for us.

This article in Relevant magazine does an awesome job of providing the perspective that we can't simply rely on electing one man (or one day one woman) to take charge of the fight for morality. That responsibility will always be in our hands, as much as it will be in the hands of our president. It's pretty good. Check it out:
