the last few days blew by in cocoa beach. i mean, that meal at wendy's that i provided supplementary photography for on my last post seems like forever ago. work stuff picked up, and i'm sure that added to the reason the second half of this past week went by so fast, but maybe it was just cause i was starting to have a lot of fun chillin with the people i work with. we ate a lot of great seafood and hit the beach a couple times, between bouts of thunderstorms, clouds, rainshowers, and jellyfish.
although there wasn't a ton of free time, i just really enjoyed the couple hours i had here and there to lie in the sand, or by the pool. i finished the final third of Irresistible Revolution (probably best to debrief this in a separate post) the first week, and got halfway through an Anne Lamott book that my mom bought me called Traveling Mercies. if you know anything about me and reading, you know something very wrong is going on here. nearly 1 book read in just under 2 weeks? crunk! but i really am enjoying these books, and will hopefully have a chance to summarize them (briefly) one of the next few days.
so, to sort of wrap up the florida trip, i'll post a few pictures here with some captions. after all, a picture is worth a thousand words, and you don't want to read thousands of more words, and i don't want to type them.

bad clouds:

crazy greg, rena, mona, martin

finishing up some last minute shopping at the original ron jon surf shop:

mona, rena, and i in front of my highlander, which i dubbed "the mom suv." the picture is blurry from the camera being 67 degrees all night and then coming out to take photos on a 90 degree morning:

full view of the soccer mom sweetness:

i just wanted to get one of those magnetic soccer balls to put on the trunk door. i think that would have been awesome. its a good thing i wasn't cruisin for chicks while i was there. i think it would have been too easy with a car that screams, "hey, i'm ready to make all the steps in life that you are."
we topped off the week last night with a trip to Carrabbas. man, the food was so good. it was the first time i'd ever been there. got the chicken picci picciu, or something like that. the waitress politely corrected my clever pronunciation. and i thought i had it too! after dinner, we hit up dq, of course. oreo blizzard with chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla. then we went to see The Dark Knight. it was sweeeeeeeeeet. i'd go see it again. and now i hear its at imax. had no idea about that. i might have just waited til i got back. but i really couldn't. i really did want to see heath play joker. he played that character so well - which, sadly, sort of sheds light into how all the hours he logged to research and perfect his role as joker really must have factored into his sleepless nights and his tragic passing. though that is definitely a weird thing to have to think about when you walk away from the movie that you thought he did an amazing job in, i still definitely recommend the movie.
after a short night's sleep, an early rise, a quick drive to orlando, a long wait in a long US airways line, and an extremely short flight back, i arrived safely in dc, and prepared myself for a relaxing afternoon of thoughtless activity in preparation for a full week to come.
well, this completes my memoirs of a florida, but that doesn't mean there won't be more stuff to write about this week! stay tuned for hopefully some insights on these books i've been reading, some thoughts on my el salvador trip, and much, much more!
