College Poetry

The Tragedy of a Diligent Fellow
by Martin Hansen

There was a time when solicitors
Vehemently sought beautiful Adele
Creeps with sports cars, and bikers with stitched scars
Returning her, early morning with hickeys and bed hair

They, like many, have stood beneath
This simple one ounce frame
Brown suits with boxes, black suits' corsages
Pizza, Chinese, Mormons, and witches

Here I am now, detached from the wall
In a trash bag at the end of the hall
It's not my work ethic, or integrity questioned
Just a shadowy collision between me and Adele.
